English Spelling
Grado 7 · 3 temas
Advanced vocabulary at the seventh grade level includes multisyllabic words with complex spelling patterns drawn from science, social studies and literature. Students practice spelling strategies for long words including syllabication, stress patterns and morphological analysis. Building an advanced vocabulary is essential for reading comprehension and academic writing.
ES-G7-1Synonyms are words with similar meanings (big/large) and antonyms are words with opposite meanings (hot/cold). Students expand their English vocabulary by learning synonym and antonym pairs and practicing their correct spelling. A rich vocabulary of synonyms and antonyms improves writing variety and reading comprehension.
ES-G7-2Homophones are words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings (their/there/they are, to/too/two). Homonyms are words with the same spelling and sound but different meanings (bank, bat, light). Mastering homophones and homonyms prevents very common spelling and usage errors in English writing.
