Advanced vocabulary at the seventh grade level includes multisyllabic words with complex spelling patterns drawn from science, social studies and literature. Synonyms are words with similar meanings (big/large) and antonyms are words with opposite meanings (hot/cold). Homophones are words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings (their/there/they are, to/too/two).
